We’re thrilled to support the Milwaukee Justice Center’s 2017 Run for Justice on Wednesday both as a corporate sponsor and by having our own team of runners and walkers, Team Gramann, partaking in the event!
In 2016, the Run welcomed over 300 registrants and raised over $18,000 for the MJC services. In that same year, the MJC assisted over 9800 people with self-help legal services, utilizing over 350 volunteers who gave over 12,000 hours of service. The value of the free legal services provided by volunteer attorneys, paralegals, students, and community members was $1.12 million. Funds raised at the run are used to expand services in communities through the use of a Mobile Legal Clinic, Parenting Conferences, and other services that provide greater access to justice for self-represented litigants.
More About the MJC
The MJC is a non-profit legal clinic that supports low-to-no income families with legal issues. This clinic, located in the courthouse, is a joint project involving the Milwaukee County Clerk of Courts, the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Marquette University Law School. The primary goal is to holistically improve communities by helping self-represented litigants overcome legal issues regarding family, landlord-tenant conflict, immigration, small or large claims, and credit-consumer issues (criminal law support is not provided).
